Scrappy Stuff & My First Give Away!

Hello Bloggy Friends! I have two LO's to share today. I spent the day in the studio yesterday playing with the new Crate line, "Restorations". Just loving this line!! I'm so happy that vintage-y is in!

This is a picture of most of my family, (missing Andrew) taken in July when Susan was visiting. I was really happy to have a photo of the four of us and now my next goal will be a photo of the five original "Whites".

I used this week's sketch from Sketch Inspiration. It was designed by Jana Eubank and I just love her sketches. I was going for a junked up over embellished look and I think that I achieved it. ;) I was hoping that the touches of black would be enough to anchor the page and give it a flow. I knew as soon as I used that busy floral paper for the background that this was going to be busy. Here is the sketch.

Another LO using a more subtle side of Restorations. I love this photo of Susan. It just has such a peaceful vibe to it. The layering in the top left corner of the photo is a Julie Bonner scraplift. ;) I have to give credit where credit is due. I used french knots for the first time on a LO. Can you see those little beige circles on the doily edge? Yep, french knots. :)

I used this week's sketch from Sketchabilities. Here it is.

Now onto the Give Away. It is my first and I am pretty excited. I wanted to celebrate reaching 50 followers!! I am amazed by this. When I started this blog last December on the advice of Terry, I figured that I would have two followers, Terry and my sister Susan. LOL I totally love blogging and I get so much inspiration from this community. It is so great to chat with people who share the same passion.

I decided that of course it had to be Basic Grey. "Sugared" is one of my all time favourites! I added in some card stock and kraft paper as well as a sheet of pink corrugated! The alphas are Pink Paislee. It is packed with tags, die cuts, chipboard buttons and chipboard pieces. I even punched out some of my famous 1 inch circles from a Starbuck's cup holder and of course there are two skeins of floss to encourage you to get hand stitching!! Lastly, there are buttons and brads. I don't think I ever complete a LO without these. The sheets of tickets are hand stamped and ready to be cut out and there are some flower shapes that I cut on my Cricut.

All you have to do to be in the running is to leave me a comment on this post telling me something that makes you feel happy! I'll draw a name on Friday night and post a winner. No Mr. Random Generator for me, just papers with names, a bowl and Rob can draw the winner. I'll take pictures!! Good luck to you all!!

Happy Scrapping!! Jen :)

  2. Love the layout of your family - you are right, the touches of black really ground the paper - good advice since I gravitate to busy paper and then don't use it in my backgrounds...As for your Blog - you are a natural and I love looking at your layouts and reading your stories. I am currenty annoyed at my Blog as my sidebar slipped to the bottom of my page and I am not that versed in HTML so there it sits!!
    Congrats on your Blog!!t

  4. Oh Jen, those LOs are great! Love those papers and embellishments. Can't wait to get mine. Thanks! I printed my family photo in sepia tone too and I think I'll wait to scrap it with the Restoration collection too. By the way, those French Knots are such a good idea!

Your giveaway kit is amazing! I really don't want to be in the running for it because you've been so generous to me already. It's time somebody else was on the receiving end of your scrappy generosity! But, since you keep insisting that I play along I'm leaving a comment. What makes me happy? That's easy - being true sisters and friends again after so many years of being out of each other's lives. :-)
