About This Guy in the Cowboy Hat...

So, I confess.  I'm a huge Dwight Yoakam fan.  It's really weird because I really don't care for country music that much.  So why is the one artist that I love, the one with the super twanggy country vibe?  There is just something about that voice that I love!

I was fortunate enough to get to see him perform in 2006 at a small venue in Edmonton.  I told Rob that I could die now because I had seen Dwight.  hee hee  Anyway, wouldn't you know he came back to my neck of the woods earlier this month.  He played at a casino on an Indian reserve just outside of Edmonton.  The casino is a smokey haze that takes me back to life in the 70's but it was worth it to see Dwight.  There is no smoking in the actual concert area which is this huge heated tent.  I guess you know that you are past the prime of your career when you perform in a tent, in Canada, in February.  But, there is something awesome about seeing a musical performance at a small venue.

Rob landed us front row and center tickets with a meet and greet photo opp!  Score!!  Let me tell you it was a very brief meeting, as in,  stand next to him, tell him what your name is, get your photo taken and move on.  But.... it was soooo worth it!  I think I'll be scrapping this eventually.  :)

The concert was terrific and it will probably be the last time that we ever score such great seating.  I did try to convince Susan to give Dwight a listen but she only lasted though 56 seconds of "Guitars and Cadillacs."  What???  Who would pick that popular group Coldplay over Dwight???  hee hee

So I have to ask.... are there any other Dwight fans out there?  Please tell me I'm not alone?  ;)

Happy Scrapping!!  Jen  :)

  1. My hubby is a huge country nut. I have a few that I like, but he likes them all. I am sure Dwight is in there. :) Very cool about the front row seats and the photo op. I can't wait to see how you scrap this one. :)

My hubby and I have always loved cowboy music and when living in Montreal we always went to a night club many Friday nights to listen to cowboy music. You both look fantastic in the photo. This calls for cowboy embellishments and I know you will come off with a great page. Looking forward to seeing it.

  8. I can hold up my hand and say that I have a Dwight album (somewhere!) and have a soft spot for him - I'm going to have to search him out now! I went through a country phase years ago and still dig it out now and then. How fab to get such great seats - I think the smaller venues are always the best :)
