A New Frontier and a LO

Check out my giveaway for a chance to win this!

Today was the day that I entered into the world of crocheting and what a day it was.  Luckily I had my trusty big sister by my side to help me along the way.  Susan has made beautiful granny square afghans.  A granny square is the only thing I really want to learn to crochet.  I dream of making afghans.

To prepare for today, I started reading my crochet book, learning how to make a chain and do a single crochet.  I also found some internet instructions on making granny squares.  Susan hasn't made one in about 20 years and wanted to refresh.  I had warned Susan that I didn't anticipate being a quick study.  Crocheting just seems awkward, I mean, where's the other needle?  ;)  I'm a knitter at heart!  Well, I started off shaky but through the day my crocheting movements became somewhat more smooth.  After a few mistakes along the way, some slack tension and lots and lots of questions, I think I am finally getting it!  Yay!!  I still have some practicing to do before my squares will be good enough for my afghan.  Susan was a very patient teacher.  She had lots of down time while waiting for me to catch up!  hee hee  Thank you Susan for all of your help.  :)

In scrappy news,  I am in a BG kind of mood and got into some of my old stash.  So in the spirit of Valentine's Day, I created this LO of my friend's little girl.

I love paper hearts and wanted it to have a real homemade Valentine feel so I used staples and small circular elements made with a simple hole punch.  Reminds me of elementary art class.

I used a sketch out of the Creative Scrappers "Creating with Sketches" eBook.

Lastly, here are my last photos for the February Photo Challenge!

February 5 ~ 10 am

February 6 ~ dinner  (makes me glad I'm not a canine)

February 7 ~ button  (there is never just one button for scrappers!)

Happy Scrapping!!  Jen  :)
