"Treasured Moments"

I have some pages to share that I did for my LSS Treasured Memories, using the new Kaiser Craft line.  I really love the vintage vibe of this line not to mention the colour palette.

First up I scrapped this selfie that Diane took of herself after getting her make-up trial run done for her wedding next month.

I used this sketch from Citrus Twist.

The beautiful butterfly motifs in this collection gave me the idea to use a photo taken in a butterfly hut last fall while we were in Montreal.

I used a sketch by Laura Whitaker.

That's all for today.  I'm hoping to get back to playing with some paper really soon.

Hope everyone's holiday preparations are coming along.  Santa will be here before we know it!

Happy Winter Solstice!

I think that today is my favourite day of the year.  It is the shortest day which makes for a long cozy winters night.  Bring on the light.  Apparently we get a whole one second more tomorrow.  We had our solstice celebration last night.  I'll share more on that later.

So what's been going on around here?  There has been lots of knitting with some yummy chunky yarns.  I never did capture a photo and then Diane made off with it all last night.  Here's my human swift.  I was too lazy to go down to the basement to fetch the wooden one.  He really does look unimpressed.  LOL

Another Bark Box has been delivered.  Pups were as excited as ever and some of the toys went to Jack and Sophie for Christmas.

Lady has been hanging out under the bird tree on her new fluffy blanket.  She decided to fluff up the blanket of snow one too many times.  :(

But who can get mad at this face?  Not me.  Yeah, we reward bad behaviour.

I'll leave you with another set of photos of the Lego boys.  We have kind of been slacking on this project lately, but there have been some awesome captures.

I'll be back soon to share some pages I did using the new Kaiser Craft collection, "Treasured Moments".

Twinkle Twinkle

The countdown to the big day is on.  Historically we get the tree up at the beginning of the month.  This year we are behind schedule.  It might have something to do with our very mild winter weather.  It really doesn't seem like Christmas is just around the corner.  Well, today we got it together and put up two trees!

The little bird tree has grown into a 7 foot pencil tree!

I love that it is so narrow that it fits in my front entrance.  The best part was that I had more space for more bird ornaments.  What can I say, I really love bird ornaments!  I bought a "blanket of snow" at Michaels to cover the stand.  It didn't take the two bad dogs long to get into it and bite huge chunks off.  I'll have to see how it goes and may have to change it out for something less tempting.

This little ornament that belonged to either my mother or father (I wish I knew and there is none to ask anymore) sits on the top branch.

The fat tree is sitting in the basement.  We will enjoy it more in this area this year since we spend more time in the basement after removing the television from the upstairs living room.

This little ornament is one of my favourites.  It was from my Granny White when I was a little girl.  It was part of the gift decoration and sat on the outside of the package.  Not sure what the actual gift was but this little one has stood the test of time.

Now it's time to wrap some gifts and get them sitting under the tree!  Hmm Maybe tomorrow.

I'll leave you with a few photos of the Lego Boys who are still enjoying their advent calendars.  These photos make me laugh.

Wishing you all a fun weekend doing happy holiday stuff!

The Butterdome Craft Sale

Yesterday we headed off to our favourite craft sale of the year.  It is at the Butterdome in Edmonton, named so because it really does look like a big chunk of butter.

This sale has something for everyone!  It really is the perfect place to find that very unique and personalized gift.  Look at this bird's eye view.

Susan came along this year.  It was her first time and she really enjoyed it.

It is booth after booth of amazing hand crafted goods!

We picked up some Christmas gifts and more!  Our favourite fudge made in Ontario is safely sitting in the freezer waiting to be eaten at our  solstice celebration this year.  I ate more than my fair share at the show!   A few more things followed me home.

There is a new addition to the yarn bowl collection!  I now have three made by this same artist and I love them!

And of course I couldn't pass by these beautiful bird cards.

This yarn was hand spun in Vancouver.  I love the mix of thick and thin and I think it might turn into a cowl for Diane.

But for now, the cowl must wait.  I'm knitting up mittens for the bridal party!  Diane brought over the scarves she had already bought and we are thrilled at how nicely the mittens match.  Okay, back to my knitting needles!

Have a great weekend!

Bring on the Holidays

It's December!  All of the signs are there.

~ There is limited parking at the mall and once inside you want to run out the door really quickly.  Luckily I only have one more gift to buy at a mall in Edmonton.  Then I can stay far away if I choose to.  I really don't have many gifts to buy these days so it really isn't much of a burden.

~ The SNL Christmas special showed up on television the other night.  I've seen it many times before but I still laugh.

~ Chocolate is trying to overtake my world.  I love the stuff but am trying to limit my intake.  It is tough with the delicious ads I see on television each night, not to mention the free Lindt sample at Costco!  I can't say no to free chocolate.  LOL

~ List making is in full force.  Today's list was the meal plan for our Winter Solstice celebration.  This year we are having prize winning Fife n' Deckle pie and an ice-cream cake from the Dairy Queen for dessert.  I'm also making the girls their favourite Christmas squares from when they were little.

~Furniture has been rearranged to accommodate two trees this year.  They'll go up this weekend so more on that later.  All I can say is that the little bird tree has grown this year.  It has been replaced with a 7 foot pencil tree.  I'm so excited to decorate it!

~A touch of red has been added to last month's winter decor.  Now it's looking more festive!

~Advent calendars are in full force.  Rob is enjoying the Lego Star Wars calendar this year.  I got him one after he seemed very interested when looking at the one I picked up for Thomas.  Each day we exchange photos of Big Uncle Rob and Little Thomas holding the toy of the day.  It is great fun!  Here's day one.  Thomas was running a fever and under the weather so he looks less than happy.  Poor little guy.

But Uncle Rob looks happy enough for the two of them!  LOL

Thomas did point out that Uncle Rob forgot to put the grey brick on an angle.   Good thing Rob will have Tom's guidance throughout the month because he may need it.  ;)

~Finally, you know we are into holiday mode when morning tea looks as yummy as this!  It is "Sleigh Ride" tea from David's Tea.

Here is my advent calendar.  Rob and I enjoy a pot of the day's tea each night.  A fun new holiday tradition and a great way to sample some new flavours.

One of the great things about this calendar is collecting these little tins.  I plan on using them for scrappy goodies.  They are so cute!

Hope you are heading into festive mode too.  Even through the craziness of the season it is so important to slow down and enjoy the small moments that really matter most.

Santas Anonymous

It's that time of year again when the unknown Santas unite to make sure that all the little ones have a happy Christmas morning.  I took some photos of this year's goodies before Rob and I dropped them off at the mall.

Each year I keep my eye out for bargains.  It is always fun to see what I collected throughout the year.

I found these well trusted games at Wal-mart for $5 each right after Christmas last year.

This big guy followed us home from Ikea last march.  He cost a whopping $12 on sale.  I can just see him under the tree with a big red bow on his head and a little one for baby too!  Hopefully he will make some little one quite happy.

These two Lego sets were freebies.  Lego had a promotion where they were given to customers with a purchase.

It wouldn't be Christmas without Dr. Seuss.  Loved this one as a kid!

The bead set was found in the clearance section at Michael's for $2!  I got this big colouring book at Costco.

As we do each year, Rob and I made a pick of something we would have liked as a kid.  This is the year of Lego!  Rob picked this..

and I picked this one.  I wish they had had cool girlie Lego when my girls were little.  They would have loved it!

Shopping for the children is always the most fun.
