1st Day

When I saw this school collection by PhotoPlay, I knew it would be perfect for documenting Thomas's first day of Kindergarten.  He has grown so much since September.

Here's the sketch that I found from D-Lish Scraps.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

GI Joe Pants

I was pretty quick to scrap my photo of my new camouflage capri pants.  I went through my stack of "favourite papers" that have been saved through a number of purges.  I used a mix,  some of which is Cosmo Cricket.  I miss their paper.  :(  Then I turned to my jar of "favourite buttons".  These are the ones that are all different and have some specialness to them.  Here's the page.

I found this sketch from D-Lish Scraps.

Wishing you all a great day with some time for creating!

I've Been Scraplifting

Somehow it seems criminal but it is all okay if credit is given where credit is due.  Well all the credit for this next one goes to Nancy Damiano.  Such a talented lady!  Here's the page.

I totally love the grid design of this.  I actually bought that heart punch to do this page.  That is the great thing about scraplifting, it gets a person out of their comfort zone.

Here's Nancy's LO that appeared in Scrapbook and Cards Today.  (Hope I'm not breaking some blogging law by posting this page.)  Isn't it totally amazing?!

I even stole a few words from Eric Clapton for my journaling.  I did change the tense and add the forever part.  ;)

Someone call the police!  LOL

Scrapping Thomas

I've been scrapping my favourite subject... Thomas!  This collection by Shimelle was perfect.

Thomas went geocaching for the first time last weekend.  Such a cute photo of his excitement with the cache he found.

I've been breaking out the Minc and I love being able to choose the foil colour that fits the page.

I used the latest sketch out at Citrus Twist.

Here's the next page.

That large 4x6 card is used with the Minc but is from Shimelle's collection.

The sketch was from Susan Stringfellow.

Wishing you all a scrappy day!

The Good, the Okay and the Ugly

I have three LO's to share.  They were all created on the same day.  This got me thinking about how three creations in such a short period of time could all turn out so differently.  So I've rated them.

First up, the "good".  This one is my new favourite and I think might make it into my 10 faves of the year.  I mixed a bunch of papers and was going for a masculine look for this photo of Andrew and Thomas.  I love this photo.

I used this sketch from Citrus Twist.

The second LO I have to rate as just "okay".

I love this photograph of Chantal and I love the papers and supplies.  So what went wrong?  I should have used this sketch as a mirror image so that the subject is not looking out of the LO.  Awwww!  Rookie mistake.

Here's the sketch I used from Citrus Twist.

Okay, brace yourself for the "ugly".  This one got away on me in a big way.  I tried to redeem it but nothing could save it.  So in the interest of keeping it real... here it is in all its glory.  There's a lot going on.  It almost makes me dizzy when I look at it!  Yikes!

So what's wrong with it?  Let me tell you.  The photo is very busy all by itself, so the design and supplies would have been best to be kept simple.  Less is more but I struggle with this creative concept.  ;)  I deviated from the sketch by adding that blue strip on the bottom. It totally messed up the design of the sketch. It wasn't by choice.  Things went awry with some floating diecut flowers and hand written journaling that looked too off centre.  So I covered the mistake with that blue strip and then had to add the small blue strip in the top right hand corner and then a few more blue buttons to balance the colour.  Well, you can see where this is going.  All I can say to it is... yuck.  But it will still go into my album because I like the memory.  I guess you can't love them all.  LOL

Here's the sketch I used from Citrus Twist.  It really is a great sketch.

And that's just how it goes sometimes in the scrappy world.

It's Monday

Monday is kit inspiration day at Treasured Memories so two more of my pages using "Flip Flop Season" are up.

First a cooler feel, using a grey card stock background.  I am really feeling the grey these days.

I used this sketch created by Laura Whitaker.

Here is Thomas playing in the water at Lake Louise.  It was the perfect photo to go along with the "sandy feet" sentiment.

I loved this very original sketch created by Susan Stringfellow.

I'll be back to share more pages very soon.  I've been scrapping like a crazy woman these days!

Mushroom Medley

So I'm still scrapping with Jillibean Soup.  I have moved onto "Mushroom Medley".  It is the perfect collection to scrap photos of us at Parc Omega in Quebec last fall.  I am determined the get this holiday album done .... eventually.

Here we are with this cute deer.  It was so much fun feeding him carrots.

I used this sketch from PageMaps.

Thomas was really happy to be able to get this close.  He loves all creatures and has a vast knowledge on this subject.

I finally used my old Studio Calico "Oh Deer" stamp!

And another sketch from PageMaps.  Weird since I rarely use their sketches.  I think that the grid style sketch does really well with the busyness of these amazing papers.

I'll leave you with a glimpse of my new "GI Joe" pants.

Yeah they have a hint of camo going on.  Is almost 52 too old for camo?  LOL  I don't care...  I'm keeping them.  It was the last colour available in my size. There may be a future LO here somewhere.  Now I wish I hadn't purged that old Crate "Toy Box" collection.  It would have been perfect.  I think there was even a soldier sticker.  :(

Have a wonderful day!
